Bio:

Angela Alés is a Colombian-born artist hailing from the vibrant city of Barranquilla. With a heritage that blends Andalusian and Lebanese roots, Alés brings a rich tapestry of cultural influences to her artistic practice. In 1984, she embarked on a new chapter of her life, relocating to the United States.

Alés honed her artistic skills and expanded her creative horizons at the prestigious Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City. There, she immersed herself in the dynamic artistic community, harnessing the city's energy and diversity to fuel her artistic pursuits. Continuing her artistic education, Alés pursued her Master of Fine Arts degree at the Miami International University of Art and Design.

With a passion for exploring diverse mediums and pushing the boundaries of artistic expression, Angela Alés has actively participated in over 30 collective and individual exhibitions throughout the United States, as well as in Central and South America. Her captivating artwork has garnered recognition and found a home in private collections across the Americas, Europe, and Australia.

Alés's artistry is a testament to her ability to merge the realms of Magic Realism and Surrealism, creating captivating compositions that invite viewers into a world of enchantment and introspection. With an emphasis on utilizing the technique of Automatism, her work seamlessly blends the conscious and unconscious mind, resulting in thought-provoking and deeply personal creations.

Through her art, Angela Alés delves into profound socio-political themes, drawing from her own experiences as a Latin American, an immigrant, and a woman. Her visual narratives serve as poignant reflections of the human condition, inviting viewers to question societal norms, explore identity, and embrace the complexity of cultural intersections.

Biografía:

Angela Alés es una artista colombiana, originaria de la vibrante ciudad de Barranquilla, con una herencia que combina raíces andaluzas y libanesas, Alés aporta una rica amalgama de influencias culturales a su práctica artística. En 1984, emprendió un nuevo capítulo en su vida, trasladándose a los Estados Unidos. 

Alés perfeccionó sus habilidades artísticas y amplió sus horizontes creativos en la prestigiosa Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art en la ciudad de Nueva York. Allí, se sumergió en la dinámica comunidad artística, aprovechando la energía y diversidad de la ciudad para alimentar sus proyectos artísticos. Continuando su formación artística, Alés obtuvo su Maestría en Bellas Artes en la Miami International University of Art and Design.

Apasionada por explorar diversos medios y traspasar los límites de la expresión artística, Angela Alés ha participado activamente en más de 30 exposiciones colectivas e individuales en Estados Unidos, Centro y Sudamérica. Su cautivadora obra ha recibido reconocimiento y se encuentra en colecciones privadas en toda América, Europa y Australia.

El arte de Alés es un testimonio de su habilidad para fusionar los ámbitos del realismo mágico y el surrealismo, creando composiciones cautivadoras que invitan al espectador a adentrarse en un mundo de encanto e introspección. Con énfasis en la utilización de la técnica del automatismo, su obra combina de manera fluida la mente consciente e inconsciente, dando como resultado creaciones provocativas y profundamente personales.

A través de su arte, Angela Alés explora temas socio-políticos profundos, inspirándose en sus propias experiencias como latinoamericana, inmigrante y mujer. Sus narrativas visuales son reflejos conmovedores de la condición humana, invitando al espectador a cuestionar las normas sociales, explorar la identidad y abrazar la complejidad de las intersecciones culturales.
